Hello my Dear Wonderful Readers!

2015 has come to an end and 2016 has begun. I wish you and your families a wonderful and happy new year.

Looking back, 2015 was a blur of events and I can not believe how quickly the year has changed our lives. From becoming a mother to moving back home to seeing my son crawling and learning to walk. It seems like everything happened really fast. So many changes, so many ups and downs, so many lessons learned and so many new ventures. Starting the blog was one of the main highlights of 2015 and I can not express how happy I am to have started this wonderful journey. Thank you for all your support, encouragement and mostly for inspiring me!  I hope you would continue to do the same this new year as well.

This is going to be the first post of the year 2016 and I wanted to incorporate the bygone holiday theme one more time with an Indian edge. So here is my Saffron, Rose and Pistachio Wreath bread. This bread is inspired by my favourite flavours Rose, Pistachio and Saffron. Saffron give the bread its depth, the Rose jam sandwiched between the  layer gives the bread a wonderful sweetness with an intense Rose flavour and the Pistachios give it a nice crunch!

Once again here’s to wishing you a wonderful and full filled 2016! Eat lots, have fun and be healthy 🙂

Simple Milk Bread

Hello Every BoDY!

How are we all doing this week? I know I have been crazy busy! and sad to say I haven’t been able to come up with any thing interesting! So while I am waiting for some time and some inspiration I decided to share my weekly simple milk bread recipe. I stopped buying bread from outside. The honest truth is that both you and me do not really know what goes into it and since my husband refuses to have anything else but bread, every single morning, I just make my own bread. I try making it interesting by adding raisins or chocolate. I think I am running out of ideas. Anyway this is the recipe for my simple daily milk bread.

Ingredients:-

  1. Sugar – 2 tbsp
  2. Yeast – 2 tsp
  3. Milk – 1 cup (warm)
  4. Flour – 2 + 1/2 Cup
  5. Olive Oil – 4 tsp ( 3 for the dough and 1 for brushing over the loaf)
  6. Salt – 1 + 1/2 tsp

Instructions :-

  1. Firstly in a cup, add milk and sugar. Mix well and then add yeast. Let the mixture sit till the yeast has worked its magic it becomes bubbly and frothy (10mis))
  2. I use my food processor for breads so add flour and salt into the bowl. Run the processor for a few seconds till the salt is evenly distributed through the flour
  3. Then add 3 tsp of oil into the dry mixture
  4. Once the yeast and milk solution is nice and frothy turn on the food processor and slowly add milk to the flour
  5. You want the dough to come together but remain nice and sticky
  6. Once the dough comes together, empty your bowl onto a lightly floured counter and knead the dough for 8 -10 mins
  7. Now place this dough in a greased glass bowl. Let the dough double in size. Make sure to keep the bowl in a warm place. This helps the yeast work
  8. Once the dough has doubled, take your loaf pan and line it with baking paper
  9. Roll out the dough to a large rectangle. Then slowly fold it inwards from one end till you have a nice long roll
  10. Set the roll into the prepared loaf pan. Let the dough rest for another hour or more.
  11. During this time, pre heat the oven to 180 C
  12. Before popping the pan into the oven, lightly coat the top with the left over oil. Bake for around 30 to 40 mins
  13. Once done, let it cool completely before slicing
